Bob Swanson was such a blessing to us. I think it was primarily because of what he gave. First, he gave us his loving attention. He really enjoyed being around us young people. I felt strongly as a teen that Bob cared for us all in the same way and for the same Godly reason. I knew he and Lois worked hard to make our youth meetings, events and ministries go well. I just didn't know how much work it really was at the time. Second, there was always a light and a smile in Bob's eye. Third, to me, one of the most significant things for my life today, was the moment Bob came up to me after church, and said, "Jim, do you mind if I pray and ask God to call you into the ministry?" I was a little afraid, but I said, "No, go right ahead." A couple of years later, while in college, a seminary president said a similar thing to me. Here, after 33 years of full or part-time ministry, I'm glad that Bob prayed. I know my parents prayed faithfully, as well. It's great to have my youth director do the same. Thanks Bob. We had fun writing the lamplighter at your house, watching some NFL games, getting to know your wife and kids, having destination unknowns, eating, and growing in our faith. See you in heaven, soon!
