It’s hard to separate Bob and Lois. They were destined by God to be as ‘together’ as water and life. So part of this tribute simply also must include heavy influences and leadership by one of the world’s most positively oriented women, Lois Swanson. When we reflect back on how Bob was such an impact on our lives, it’s extremely hard to come up with only one example of how he directly touched our lives in such a positive manner. His cheerful smile beaming, his amazing command over God’s Word and his unnerving patience with young people. His passion was helping people like us, rebellious young people, to ‘grow up in Christ.’ Whether it was Bob and his flashlight beaming it over the dark depths of the night-ride bus on a DU (and we all know WHY he did that!), to finding a spot where we could survive a raging mid-western downpour so we could have devotions, Bob was always there to exercise and act on the passion to help youth. He was as resourceful as he was spiritual, which speaks volumes. Bob was firm, yet he was gentle. He was tough, yet he was a ‘puppy dog.’ He embodied what every man should aspire to, leaving this world with a huge legacy of lives changed as a result of his. Bob, we now KNOW, beyond a shadow of doubt that you are with our Lord Jesus as this is written. We know that you KNOW, it was all worth it. And we thank God every time we think of you!
